Build a village that mostly works.
Farms, mills, lumber camps and watchtowers. The peasants do the work. You walk around pointing at things, which is what Barons are for.
The job
The valley is yours, the castle is yours, and the defending of it is, regrettably, also yours. Your peasants farm, chop, build and, when the raiders come over the hill, grab whatever’s nearest and hope for the best. Keep the turnips growing, the gate shut and as many of them breathing as you can manage.
Farms, mills, lumber camps and watchtowers. The peasants do the work. You walk around pointing at things, which is what Barons are for.
Wolves, sirens, torch-happy neighbours and the tax collector all want something from your valley. Turnips count as ammunition. So do geese, eventually.
After every round, choose one of three upgrades: Turnip Earplugs, Bunk Beds, Release the Geese. They stack in ways that work better than they should.
A small rehearsal
Trouble is coming over the hill. Tap it before it gets to the peasants. Last until dawn.
The Baron
The cast
Owns the valley. Defends it bravely, from a comfortable chair.
Has seen everything. Keeps the census. Says nothing, very loudly.
Brings an army and a quill. The quill does more damage.
Very keen on fire. Specifically, your roofs.
Rows up the river at night with a lantern and an offer. Refuse it.
Has a large family to feed. Guess what with.
Armoured, mace-handed and sure the valley belongs to him.
One email when Just Peasants lands on the App Store and Google Play, and the odd one before that if the geese do something remarkable. No more than the Baron could be bothered to write.
